Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 8 am–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Café On The Avenue at (716) 877-2233; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, cafeontheavenue.com.

Buffalo is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Buffalo peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. The worst dining experience we’ve ever had. My server was rude to EVERYONE in the restaurant other than her obvious regulars/friends (one table). The food was disgusting, waiting 30 minutes with an empty coffee cup. Food came cold, and both over and undercooked. Which would have been fine and understandable if the server wasn’t the rudest server I’ve had as a server myself. I didn’t know it could get worse than our local Denny’s. If the food was good i wouldn’t be writing this review, so know it was that bad. We’re on our way to second brunch.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Didn’t try the donuts or other pastries because sold out. The skillet was not worth trying. The cheese tasted off in mine but my friend’s was fine. Place is small and a little run down but that’s the neighborhood.

This place is amazing. It was my first time there and Jenn was amazing! So friendly and attentive. We got two of their skillets were so good and very generous portions, and we shared the biscuits and gravy (MUST HAVE) Everything was fantastic! 10/10 will be back!

Cozy diner with wonderful service and a great diner menu Got the table next to the gas 🔥 place. Super cozy The veggie skillet was nicely seasoned with crispy home fries and melty cheese. Fluffy Belgian waffle and the whipped butter was a nice surprise. Side of classic corned beef hash. Sweet and savory my fave Special of the day was biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs. Fluffy biscuits with a nice creamy sausage gravy. We'll be going back for lunch soon to try the other diner offerings.

We were there late morning on a Tuesday. The waitress Sharon was very friendly. We started with the coffee. It was very good and I don’t normally drink coffee. It was a cold day in December though. Needed something to warm me up. I got their 10yr anniversary skillet. Highly recommend it. It has scrambled eggs, spicy Italian sausage, potatoes, green peppers and mozzarella cheese melted over the top. DELICIOUS! My wife had the #3 which is scrambled eggs, home fries and choice of meat (she chose turkey sausage) with Texas toast. She said it hit the spot. Definitely going back again.
